J Crew - Janey glitter flats

Let's kick off the first review with a little sparkle:

J Crew's Janey glitter flats (24690, $228) - Now $149.99 online & $99.99 in-store. They run 5-12. The color is called metallic gold.

Size 7.5 - I have tried a few pair of Janey flats in 7.5 and 8. These definitely run TTS, in my experience. The 8s were too big.

My toes looked squished, but that's just where the shoe is hitting on my foot. There is plenty of room in the toebox and the shoes are quite comfortable right off the bat. A requirement for me, as of late.

I thought the gold heel would look cheap, but it doesn't. It looks a little 80s, but I got over that. It's possible the gold heel will get dinged up, but one way to protect it is by adding heel savers.

Sassy, baby....

...yet conservative. I thought they would be too conservative, but they grew on me after trying them on a number of times. I also compared them to Madewell's sidewalk skimmer in glitter (review coming soon) and liked the Janeys better.

The Feeling
I like the subtle glitter. It has a slight rose colored sheen to it, but doesn't exactly say rose gold. I like the gold heel. It frames the shoe to a degree and is something different than your usual glitter flat.

  2. Great review Gigi! Something to add is that I didn't find the glitter to rub off and leave a trail of where I've been like my Kate Spade Blaire heels do. I also took my normal size 7 in these.

    1. Audreybella - Absolutely true. I forgot to mention that. I *do* like that the glitter doesn't rub or leave sparkles on the Janeys. Thanks for adding that!

  3. I like these on you! Will have to see if I can these in store to try. I thought I was an 8, but am actually 7.5. And at JC, I'm both. Good posing, too, btw.

I'm not surprised to see that IM would like them - my peeps like the bling! ;)

    1. injanuity (Ford!) - As stated above, I may keep IM for the thumb rating. It beats trying to get my thumb into the shot while the camera is so low. Go for 7.5.

  4. These seem really day appropriate. I love that heel, it's very different for a flat.

  5. I have these in the black and the heel has held up well so far, fingers crossed. My problem is that the patent are very tight across the front of the foot and they are PAINFUL. I might try these glitter ones bec. I really bought them for the gold heel. Thanks again for another great review.

    1. Shekster - That's good news on the heel. Thanks for sharing. You absolutely have to get some shoe stretcher spray. I find that there is always some give to J Crew's patent shoes. They will stretch a bit, but they need the help of the spray. Just spray a little bit on the top inside. Rub it across the top inside and sides of the shoe with your finger. Then wear the shoes around a bit. Should make a difference. Let me know if you try it.

    2. p.s. I have found the shoe stretcher spray in-store. I didn't see it last time I was in Target, but stores are doing inventory and I think they're letting things stay sold out until that's complete. If you have Amazon Prime, online is always an option w/the free shipping.
